The 3Com Enterprise Management Suite (EMS) Version 2.4 delivers comprehensive management, flexible and scalable enough to meet the needs of the largest enterprises and advanced networks.

This solution provides particularly powerful configuration and change control functionalities, including the capability to customize scheduled bulk operations, create a detailed audit trail of all network changes, and support multiple, distributed IT users with varying access levels and individualized network resource control. The client-server offering operates on Windows and UNIX (Linux and Solaris) systems with extensions for HP OpenView and IBM Tivoli NetView, and on the IBM i5/OS.

The management system is licensed according to number of devices requiring management. These include actively managed SNMP-capable devices such as switches, routers, security switches, the 3Com VCX networked telephony server, and wireless access points. Devices not considered in this count include end stations, workstations, servers, and IP telephone handsets.

3Com EMS is available in five different packages, restricted by the number of devices managed (there is no limitation on number of installed workstation clients):

up to 20 devices (3CR15640)
up to 250 devices (3CR15600)
up to 1,000 devices (3CR15610)
up to 5,000 devices (3CR15620)
an unlimited number of devices (3CR15630).
(The 20-device license is especially suited for managing deployments of the 3Com VCX VoIP solution.)
