Adds a 100BASE-LX single-mode fiber link to a Gigabit SFP-enabled slot on selected 3Com Gigabit switches.

Flexibility in Fast Ethernet Connections

Customers with existing 100BASE-LX10 networks can now link directly into selected 3Com Gigabit switches, such as the Switch 5500G-EI family.

This SFP is primarily designed for the following applications:
Businesses who have placed newer gigabit switches in the distribution closet but need to aggregate older Ethernet and Fast Ethernet hubs and switches over very long distances using 100BASE-LX10 technology
In situations where gigabit performance is not required, the business is using 9u single-mode fiber and needs to run at a distance greater than 550 meters
This SFP can be used only for 100 Mbps connections in the supported switches.

Enables one 100BASE-LX-10 Fast Ethernet connection in selected Gigabit SFP slots

Supports link length of up to 10 kilometers using single-mode fiber

For these SFPs to be operational, the Switch 5500 must be running 3Com OS software version V3.2.4 or higher, and the Switch 4500G must be running 3Com OS software version V5.01.02 or higher.

When used with the Switch 5500, this SFP only functions in the last two SFP slots.

Not for use in 100 Mbps SFP-only slots, such as those on the Switch 5500 28-Port FX, 3CR17181-91; use 3Com SFP models 3CSFP81 and 3CSFP82 for those 100M SFP slots
